Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones

By: R. A. Salvatore

Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the clones is a novel set in the Star Wars universe that takes place during the Rise of the Empire era, and is the second of three books in The Star Wars Prequel trilogy.

Plot: Senator Amidala's Ship is attacked on the landing pad on Corrucant, and the Jedi send Obi-Wan & Anakin Skywalker to protect her.  After another assassination attempt is made, Padme and Anakin return to Naboo where they begin to explore their feelings for each other.  While there, Anakin gets a vision that his mother is in trouble, and Padme convinces him to travel to Tatooine to try and save her.

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan follows a lead that brings him to Kamino, where a clone army is being built to defend the republic.  After a run-in with Jango Fett, Obi-Wan follows him to a dirtball of a planet called Geonosis, where the separatists are massing a huge drone army.He informs the Jedi Council, and then gets captured.  Disobeying orders, Padme & Anakin head for Geonosis to try and save him.  "Begun, the Clone Wars has!"

Review:  A great novel from beginning to end!  Following Padme and her growing forbidden feelings for Anakin is just as exciting as the action.  The book does a much better job at explaining what leads her through her feelings for love than the movie.  This book is a must read!
