Under The Dome

By: Stephen King

A town is held hostage by it's own inhabitants after a mysterious dome encloses around Chester's Mill, trapping the town.

Plot: On a normal fall day, the small town of Chester's Mill Maine is suddenly closed of by an impenetrable transparent material unlike anything the US Government has ever seen.  Trapped inside is Dale Barbara a.k.a Barbie, a former Army Captain who is trying to leave a town that no longer wants him.

When the dome falls, after the town is stricken with several fatalities, amongst them the town's Chief of Police, the town's population looks to 'Big Jim' Rennie, the town's second selectman and owner of the local car dealership.  Rennie creates a dictatorship with a 'young' police force, and has it out for Barbie because of a altercation between him and his son Junior, which is also the reason Barbie was trying to leave.

One bad move after another leads to a encapsulated Armageddon in this long in the making, sci-fi horror novel which will have all the readers wondering how their community would handle this disaster, and how far a 'civilized' society truly is from total anarchy.

Review:  This novel is a true science experiment into the human condition.  A true sci-fi thriller that truly explores the need for survival, and examines the idea of people in society whose wild fetishes are only controlled by the law.  Ask yourself: what do you know about yourself that nobody else knows about?  Is it morally acceptable?  When society is gone, who decides what is morally acceptable?  These are all chilling questions that the reader will think about while enjoying this spellbinding novel.  A book that makes you think is a book you'll remember, and Stephen King is truly at the top of his game with this novel.
