Plot: The story takes place in the year 2154 on Pandora, a moon of the planet Polyphemus in the Alpha Centauri star system wwith a biosphere similar to Earth's. The RDA corporation from Earth is mining a valuable mineral called "unobtanium". Pandora's atmosphere is toxic to humans, forcing them to use breathing masks.
Pandora inhabitants are called the Na'vi, which are a ten-foot-tall, blue-skinned species of sapient humanoids, who live in harmony with nature. They worship a mother goddess called Eywa. To facilitate relations with the Na'vi and continue the research of Pandora's biosphere, scientists grow Na'vi-human hybrid bodies called "avatars" which are operated via a mental link by genetically matching humans. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), is a paraplegic former Marine, who replaces his twin brother, a scientist trained as an avatar operator but murdered in a robbery. Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver), who is the head Scientinst of the Avatar Program, considers Sully an inadequate replacement for his brother and assigns him as a bodyguard.
When Jake stumples through Pandora, and eventually is accepted into the Na'vi tribe, he will be forced to choose which race he will stand beside when they go to war.
Review: One of the best movies ever made. There is nothing bad to say about this movie. The effects are top notch in the industry, the sound vibrating, and the story so engrossing that even though the movie is 162 minutes long, no one will ever complain. Definately James Cameron's best movie, and that's saying a lot with the list of movies he's directed. I hope you got to see the movie on the big screen in 3D, but if not, watch the film on blu-ray and experiece Avatar....
