Death Star

By: Michael Reaves & Steve Perry

Death Star is a novel set in the Star Wars universe that takes place during the Rise of the Empire era, and ends in the Rebellion era.

Plot: The Empire is secretly building the largest space station ever to exist, practically the size of a small moon.  From construction to completion is going to take a lot of manpower, resources, and time.  All the while, the rebels are attempting to sabotage the construction process.

The book tells the tale of the Death Star's construction to deconstruction, from about 10 different points of view from all walks of life; a cantina owner to Darth Vader himself, as they interact with key elements of the timeline that eventually leads to the Battle of Yavin and the destruction of the Death Star.

Review:  A refreshing book that shows a different point of view from the original Star Wars movie.  As Star wars shows the life of Luke Skywalker and his eventual joining of the rebellion, this novel tells the Imperial side of the story, and takes a new look as the reader revists the Battle of Yavin.  Anybody who likes Star Wars - A New Hope has to read this book.  The novel fills in the details, and allows for true understanding.
